Will tackle your new scan in a moment but hearing your Grandad was born 1912 makes me think "his friend" was likley a son or Grandson of R. J. Fasham and the truck has the company name on it.

Perhaps if you check some later censuses you can find the friend living with R.J.  That would at least confirm that we're barking up the right tree ;) .

The Approach Rd. seems to fit but the rest is still very blurred.  The last line definately contains 2 words though and the 2nd does look like Margate.

Yes Karen i definately think you have the right R J Fasham which was an excellent find.

I agree that my grandad's friend was most probably a son or grandson or even just worked for R J Fasham.

Yes it is still very blurry. Approach Rd seems to be a very good fit.

I will have to renew my Ancestry.co.uk subscription again. It is so annoying not having access to census records etc.

I know what you mean regarding Ancestry.  It's a great help when you need it but way too expensive in my opinion.

Good luck!

E T Fasham is Edward Tofts Fasham, he was Mayor of Margate in 1927.
Is he a relation of yours then? I ask as I have pictures of him and his obituary.

His father was the first person to be baptised in Holy Trinity Church in 1827.

Edward died 1936, hence his business being sold.

I am researching the Potts family. Edward Tofts Fasham was married to Mary Blanche Potts. I would love to see his photo/obituary.

Karen

Do you think it could be "Cliftonville, Margate"?
