Storthes Hall Asylum Huddersfield
« on: Monday 27 October 08 15:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Can anyone help I am doing my family tree and have a great aunt Beatrice Hughes Born Sheffield 1888. She spent some time at Wadsley Asylum before being transfered to Storthes Hall in  1945 where she died January 1947.
I am having great problems in finding where she is buried. Wakefield archives have no record of her burial infact have only got Beatrice on a patient index no other records. I have seen her records for Wadsley which are at Sheffield archives no help there.Other than looking at every church and every cemetery in Huddersfield and Sheffield can anyone tell my where can I find out about her burial I've hit a brickwall.

Thanks Diane

Hi Diane

I cant help with the burial but I can tell you that Storthes Hall was in Kirkburton.

It might help to post a thread asking for anyone with Kirkburton records to see if they can look it up for you.

Hi Jane,

Thanks for your reply I will try that, I can't understand why Wakefield archives have no records of her burial as she died in Storthes Hall Asylum hospital. Thanks again

Hi Kaz,

Thanks for you reply sorry I'm only just replying but my computer has been down. I have been in contact with thurstonland church she isn't there infact I've tried quite a few in the area with no luck. Would you have been working there when Beatrice was there 1945-1947 ? Thanks for your help.

Regards Diane

Hi Kaz

I would be very interested in any information you have on Storthes Hall from the early 1900's.  As mentioned in an earlier post my Grandfather worked there before the first world war.

Thanks

Bob
