Hello, I am looking for information about the parents and siblings of H John Jackson born about 1801 Address I have is Cross St; Larne parish. I know he married Margaret (surname unknown ) on the 1-10-1830 and he died in 1848.. Margaret died in 1880. I also have a list of all his children but am unable to go further back than 1801.  thank you for any help.... Jennifer

Unless you can locate church records, which might or might not exist, it will be very difficult to trace the family back earlier.

Thank you for that.   This is difficult from Australia but I know their religion was Presbyterian so maybe I can contact the local presbyterian parish in Larne and see how far back their records go. Thanks once again for the reply...regards Jennifer

There are several Presbyterian Churches in Larne area- 1st Larne, Gardenmore and Craigy Hill (only dating from 1956) are 3 of them.
There are 2 types of parish in Ireland- civil and religious. Church of Ireland/Established Church and Roman Catholic both have parishes. Presbyterian Churches do not.
