Hi Ian

I could see no evidence of gravestones being removed. The graveyard is quite small and there appears to be a good coverage of gravestones IE no obvious areas without gravestones. The graveyard is actually raised above the surrounding area and also slopes from south (high point) to north (low point). It could well be the gravestone may be laid face down  . Your images should be en route to you.

i have been doing my family tree for some years now i have hit a big wall
i am looking for info on the pearson family they lived in whickham and moved to blaydon in 1881/91
in 1901 the family are in gateshead district 6
thomas pearson 25y
elizabeth pearson (mccarrick) 19y
alice pearson 6 m old
living at no 55

william pearason 64y father of thomas
rachel pearson (johnson) 62y
isabbella pearson 21y
living at no 57

we are looking for
elizabeth pearson born in 1866 in durham
hannah pearson bornin 1868 in durham
robert pearson born in 1870 durham
jane ann pearson born in 1877born in wickham
iasbella pearson born in 1880 born in wickham
there are no deaths for pearson family in wickham or dunston
there are 19 pearsons in blaydon grave yard
but only 6 head stones we can not fined the above names can you help me out

Both Whickham & Dunston are part of Gateshead. Possible death for Robert in 1898 aged 28 Dec  Gateshead  10a 534.
Also a possible death for Jane Ann 1892 aged 15 Mar  Gateshead  10a 570 .

To Anthony Pearson. Maybe this will help you to work backwards; but I knew a Pearson family in Sheriff Hill around 1948. I don't remember the parents' names but their only child was Pauline (probably born around 1942). I think the father lost a leg, or crippled, in WW2 as he always walked with a limp. I would imagine Pauline was baptized at St. John's, Sheriff Hill.

My family lived in the area for many years. They were called SMITH.
Several of them including my grandfather, and g.g grandfather had the Christian name Robson.
They lived Latterly in Robson St Low Fell, and prior to Lowreys Lane.
They attended St Helens and St Johns.

I wondered if anyone might know where Hayes Cottages Windy Nook were please.
My g. grandfather William Smith (son of Robson Smith) was born there in September 1861.
I also cannot find his death. It was between 1901 and 1911 and 0n 1901 his address was Ivy Houses, Eighton Banks Lamesley. He is there with his wife Sarah and  5 children, but not on the 1911 by which time the rest of his family are back at Lowreys Lane.

If you click on this link http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/ and when it loads, it can be slow at times, click on the search tab and on the next page that opens enter NE10 9RP in the keyword box and click search it should take you to a modern day map. If you choose the 1938-1950 map from the select map drop down you should see Hays Cottages. They don't appear on later maps.

Added: There are 2 potential deaths in FreeBMD in Gateshead 1; 1905 aged 47. 2; 1908 aged 45.
