I'll transcribe as best I can....my 'close up' picture isn't very clear.

There are a number of other plaques, including the one you mentioned which includes Elizabeth Smith Austen, her daughter, and a seperate one for Henry Edmund Austen, her son.
I'll try and put them on here tomorrow for you.

It is extracts from William Brays diary and mentions the Austen family. In particular Mr Austens death and funeral (November 3rd +)

Thanks Twink for all those pics. William Bray was apparently a close friend of the Austens. He is mentioned in Robert Austen's will.

In honored memory of LT COL HENRY HAVERSHAM GODWIN-AUSTEN FRS:FRGS:FZS of Shalford Surrey born July 6 1834 died Dec 3 1923 Explorer. Suveyor. Scientist. In appreciation of his enterprise and skill in exploring and surveying the N W Himalayas - especially in the vicinity of the Kara-Koram range. He was awarded the Founders Gold Medal of the Royal Geographical Society. His family and friends place this memorial here. mens aegua rebus in arduis
