Yes    There's was a Rose Rixon of.. Hillock, Princes Risborough 
same bp as Kate's...... Hillock, Monks Ris.

RG13 1352 25 11 Bucks... She is wife of Harry Rixon......
Mar Rose WELLER + Harry Rixon Dec 1897.

Elizabeth Weller married  and   William Smith are Ann Smith's parents. Weller is Rose's maternal grandmother MN....

i wonder if John (father) could not afford to keep the youngsters and went into the workhouse as a last resort ? after having placed his children elsewhere ?

perhaps the workhouse records and also the parish poor relief / poor rates records will help you.
