That would be great thanks!
I know that my grandfather (D H Griffiths son) was born in 1919 and his family were brought up in Cambrian Terrace , he also worked down the mine there (Cambrian? The family moved to Coventry around 1940's I think.
So far have been unable to trace anyone from that side of the family any help would be very greatly received.
I am thinking of visiting Tonypandy/Penygraig in the next couple of weeks to try and explore further.

I've emailed the lady's daughter and she will definitely ask her mother about your ancestors next time she speaks to her.

If you need any advice when visiting Tonypandy/Penygraig let me know. I was brought up in Tonypandy and my parents and mother's family are all still living there. I'll take a photograph of number 20 and some general ones of the street when I'm up there next.

I also have this photograph you may like to see. It says "Thomas Street sports on the Coronation" - now I'm presuming that this was George V and taken in 1911. My great grandmother who lived in number 16 is in the photograph.

Thanks for all the help.
I have obtained the Birth certificate as suggested (Dowlais born) however I am more confused!
any ideas why the birth certificate (right DOB, 26/12/1888) and job (publican) would say William as father but marriage certificate says john?
I know David Henry Griffiths was orphaned at an early age.

If his father died when he was very young, he might not have remembered his father's first name.

What was his mother's first name and her maiden surname?

Does this family match for address?
1891 261 High St, Dowlais RG12/4438 folio 65 pg 9
William Griffiths head mar 32 haulier board health(?) b. Monmouthshire, Newport
Elizabeth wife 31 b. Cardiganshire, Aberystwyth
Morgan son 10
William John son 7
Mary Jane dau 6
Jenkin Thomas son 4
David Henry son 2
Fanny Elizabeth dau 1
all children born Dowlais

1901 12 Bryn Mynach Llwynypia RG13/5016 folio 145 pg 29
Morgan Griffiths boarder 21 driver (Below Ground) b. Dowlais
David Henry Griffiths 12 b. Dowlais

I've had a look for the siblings without success apart from this possible for Mary Jane
I wonder if this could be his mother remarried?
1901 30 High St, Ynysybwl, Mountain Ash RG13/5003 folio 106 pg 10
John Jones head mar 39 carpenter b. Cards, Llangwyrfon
Elizabeth wife 41 b. Aberystwyth
Mary Jane dau 15 b. Merthyr
Evan W S son 11 months b. Ynysybwl
William brother 37 lab coal mine below ground b. Llangwyrfon
possible marriage dec qtr 1895 Pontypridd vol 11a pg 674 Elizabeth Griffiths and John Jones on the same page. But then again, you can nearly always find people with some of the common Welsh surnames that seem to 'fit'.

That does seem to fit but as you say very easy to make wrong connections with  common surnames.
marriage cert. gives mother as Eliza Griffiths formerly Lewis.
I also know that David Henry Griffiths had an older brother Morgan which also fits. There were also 2 sisters but not sure of names  "ginny" has been mentioned. "janey" maybe from mary jane?
I really wish I started on this while family members were still alive to ask!
thanks again for the help
