Glass - Kane Marriage Look Up

Hi

Hope someone kindly help?  I am looking for the marriage of Joseph Glass and Margaret Kane sometime before 1866 in Derry.

Unfortunately, I know very little about either of them but do know that Joseph Glass was born in Tereighter in the Park area of Derry.  They also had 8 children.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

there are six births for this couple on familysearch.org the first in 1864. it could be they married before
civil reg. which for catholics 1864 and for non catholic 1845 if i'am wrong i'am sure someone on rootschat will correct it. you may have to look for church records(if they exist) for this marriage.

Hi Em,
         Like Merryderry I cannot find the marriage but of theid six children which I can find one, Sarah, was born on 23 Jul 1864 so Merryderry is probably correct. If Catholic they would not have been registered.
          On a better note I did find a death in a Callander of Wills

Perhaps, could you tell me what is the best way to find out the parents names for Joseph Glass and Margaret Kane?  Is there anywhere else I could search? Whats the best way to proceed?

Hi Emgen,

I have been researching the Glass families in and around Park for a few years. The Joseph who died in 1908 in Eden is not the Tereighter Glass. He belongs over on the other side of the valley at Eden townland. It is some years since I extracted the info - it mainly consists of some christening records and a few school records. I have not been able to determine Joseph's father's name but suspect his mother was Mary.
Have you been researching them long -  are you connected to them?
I will try and put the info together for you.

Im from the same Glass family line as Caroline, our family still own land in Eden Township just outside the village.

I have some gravestone date that includes Tierlighter Glass members if you are still looking. And would welcome any information you have on them to add to my own files.

I just joined the forum and this is my first post.  I realize that this is an old thread, but the names Joseph Glass and Maggie Kane appear in my family tree. My great great grandmother was their daughter, Katie.

I've just recently immersed myself in genealogy and would love to learn more about the family and learn if there are distant relations on the board.

Its a long time since I have used this forum. But, in my records I do have a Joseph Glass married to a Margaret Kane. Unfortunately its all fragmentary data that isn't linked up yet. I am happy to send I to you as much of it will make more sense to you that it has to me.

Our problem is when we push past Joseph's generation to 3 men called Glass who are in the area about 1805. They seem to appear from nowhere and its hard to establish exactly what their relationships are.
