I don't mean to be a pain... but:

I have a John Tickner, christned July 1826, Shere, Surrey.  He was son of Charles Harris and Amelia Tickner.

Charles Harris was born 1782 in Cranleigh, Surrey and died 1843.  He married Mary Tickner in 1802 in Shere.  Mary was buried in 1812, Shere.  This couple had four children, all surnamed Harris.

Now Charles Harris and Amelia Tickner were not married.  They had four children:

4. Emma Tickner, chr. Jun 1831, Shere

The parents of Charles Harris were David Harris (chr. 1 January 1752) and Ann Cumber.

Coincidence?

Not exactly one of mine, no.

I just have an interest in Chertsey families, due to my own ancestors coming from there.  I have a massive tree than goes everywhere and Tickners appear in it.  They're no relation to me though.

Yours is Cumbers, not Cumber.

However, there could still be a link.

Born in 1835?  There's no John Tickner listed as christened in Shere for that time.  There's the above one in 1826, one in 1848 and one 1814.  My one in 1826 seems most likely the right one.

By the way, Amelia Tickner was the sister of Mary Tickner (Charles Harris' wife) and both were daughters of Job Tickner and Jane.

Sue ...I have no idea .... I just wish we could find William b 1816 and Frances/Fanny b Islington on the 1851 or 1841 ...I am sure the clues are in all the censuses we cannot find.

Actually I am quite amazed that we do not see them all together more often....

Do we have all the marriages of the children of the 4 'brothers'?

my computer is on the 'go-slow' ...arrghhhhh ...I,m tearing my hair out!!!!!  :P ;D
