hi

Jenny ...re the marriage of Jeremiah ...the other man on the page was a Sidney Eaton

I have found Sidney Eaton , b 1849 with wife HARRIET in Romford , Essex on the 1871 census ...

so if Sidney Eaton = Harriet Tanner then Jeremiah Hedges must = Sarah Ann EASTWOOD.

So we have the eastwoods and Hedges marrying each other.

YOUR William Hedges marries Frances Jennings (1833 Yalding)...her sister, Harriet,  marries  Elias Eastwood in 1835 Yalding where a James Hedges is a witness. Then Jeremiah s/o Job Hedges marries an Eastwood.... within this statement are the names of all the 'brothers'

It seems probable that William and James were all living in the same area 1835-1838

Will see if I can find more

deb :)

Wow debs you are doing well. I was always lead to believe we were connected to the Eastwoods but was told it was later. Interesting. We also have connections to the Loverages and Hoadleys all travellers. looks like you are starting to close in on them. We must be a gnats whisker from proving they are brothers.

Hey Girls:
You're both out for the night.  Anyway, I contacted a distant relative who has been doing a chart and who sent me some attachments that I can't open a few years ago.  I have contacted her again tonight.  She told me that a couple of years ago that she could trace back to Samuel Hedges in 1771.  Who knows, maybe this is the father of all the brothers!!!!!!!  Anyway, looks like we are going to solve it one way or the other.
As for me, I was raised in Romford, Essex, and most of my mother's immedate family lived in Collier Row.  Grandfather Cumbers and Alvey owned an old pub called the Rose and Crown (according to my mother), and also owned the land near Clock House Lane, that became a housing tract after WWII.  Romford must have been a little village in those days.
When I get the chart, I will paste it on the site for you.  J.

Hi casalguidi
It is very possible that Thomas HEDGES is another brother to James HEDGES 1815 William HEDGES 1816 and Job HEDGES 1821

But I am struggling to find the piece of evedance to prove that the 3 i have are brothers.Perhaps Thomas is the key it would be interesting to know more about him.

A cousin of mine is currently working hard to find evidence of the 3 being brothers and has been looking at some HEDGES in the Malling area of Kent.  He has the death certs of these 3

Deaths Sep 1854

Hedges  Susan     Malling  2a 269
Hedges  Thomas     Malling  2a 269
Hedges  William     Malling  2a 270
And I should be getting copies next week

Thomas HEDGES was 1 year old died of Cholera and is recorded as the son of James HEDGES present at death ( could he be named after the Thomas you have found in the census who could also be a brother to James, William and Job)
William HEDGES died of Typhus Fever. Present at his death was Eliza HEDGES (This could be the wife of James HEDGES he was married to an Eliza)
Susan HEDGES was very old in her 80's
