Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960
« on: Monday 20 October 08 15:51 BST (UK) »
These have just been released today by Ancestry. You wouldn't know this from their own site, but you can get to it using a link on TNA's website

www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/news/stories/214.htm?homepage=news

It includes the Empire Windrush, lots of Hollywood stars arriving in Britain on the big cruise liners, Wallis Simpson coming to meet her Prince, the Kennedy family en route to the American Embassy in London in 1938 and my great-great-grandparents returning to Scotland after 13 years farming in Saskatchewan.

... and another way to get to it is through Ancestry's index of recent databases:
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/recent.aspx

It's wonderful! I've found lots of various family members, including my OH!  :D

:)

Thanks for that, and to Genie for alerting me to this thread  :)

I'll be able to find when granddad's cousins came back and Aunty Kate's return, etc.  - hopefully smash another of those bricks  :D

Thank you so much for that link.  I have been trying to find when my uncle came back to England in the late 20's early 30's and it's there!

Hi folks
Anyone with a full membership on A*****y willing to do a lookup for me as my membership only covers UK records.

I had a quick look for William Marshall born Dover 1895. Sailed to Canada 1924 from Liverpool.
I'm trying to see if he came back. He had relations in Liverpool who he stayed with before he sailed. If any possible matches could you let me know. I've not found him in Canada yet (bit of a big country to search when you don't know where he settled).
I saw one or two possibilities but could not view any information that would help.

Many thanks in advance.
