I, too am interested in Joseph Roscoe, who was the son of John Roscoe of Bispham Green. John Roscoe was a farmer in Bispham Green at the time of his death, (possibly the tenant farmer of Roscow’s Farm, Mawdesley?). He died in June 1836, aged 74, and his will leaves one shilling and no more to his son William and his daughter Frances Monk, £15 to his son Joseph, £5 to his grandson Thomas (son of William) and the residue to his granddaughters (daughters of Frances Monk). He was buried in Rufford. A John Roscoe of Bispham, husbandman, married a Margaret Smith in Croston in 1789. There is also a record of the burial of Anne wife of John Roscoe of Bispham, husbandman, earlier in 1789. There is a record of the burial of Margaret Roscoe, aged 72, at Rufford in 1829. My great great grandfather, James Roscoe, was the son of Joseph and described Joseph as a farmer on his marriage certificate. However, there is no other evidence that he was a farmer. I assume from your interest in the surname Edge that you too are interested in James, who died ca 1892.
Joseph Roscoe's wife Isabella (nee Glover) was apparently born in Scotland.
