a history of fraternal twins only helps if it comes in on the mother’s side.
  From the website David posted.

That explains why, although my paternal gran had two sets of twins, there haven't been any born since.  She had 6 children, 3 were daughters.  The eldest didn't have any children, the next (who happened to be my dad's twin sister) had 5 boys, and the youngest had one daughter.  That means that only the daughter of the youngest might have had twins and guess what - she hasn't had any children.

I've not found any other twins in my tree at all.

Lizzie

My son and his wife have boy/girl twins. My DIL's maternal side had multiple births, but none of DIL's sisters have twins.
My daughter had a friend who was one of naturally-occurring quads (all girls). When they learnt to drive, their dad took out group insurance!

My great grandmother was a twin, and I can think of about a total of 12 sets of twins in my tree.

I loved finding my great nans birth certificate...her sister was on the same page. Two for the price of one wooo!

My great grandmother Elizabeth Fielder was a twin; to my knowledge there are no twins in any of her descendent lines.  However, her sister had twins, and to date I have found 17 other sets of twins in Fielder line from my 2 x great grandparents (ie: from 1815 to present day)  from Elizabeth's brothers and sisters.

Not all these were from my great grandmother's sisters lines  -  5 sets are in her brother George's line, 2 in her brother John's, although through daughters lines not sons.    Some of the lines apparently have none at all, several of the families have 2 sets of twins, Harriet's line has twins in every generation.

I hadn't previously registered -  til I read this thread  -  that although they are all decended from Henry Fielder, only Elizabeth and Eliza are surnamed Fielder  :o  :D

Theres twins in my partner's family (his Dad is a twin) and in my family (my Aunties were twins). It regularly skips a generation and I have lost count of the sets of twins I have found. (siblings and direct descendants)

No-one in my generation was a twin, nor in the next generation....... yet; do you think I'd be tempting fate if I had another child?

My Father was a twin but his twin died at birth. He never spoke about it and none of us knew until my sister thought that she might be having twins and asked if there were any in the family (she didn't have twins). More recently, since getting into this tree business, I've found more twins in my Fathers line.

My grandad on my mum's side was a twin ( boy/boy) 1906. His dad was also a twin ( boy/girl )1877.

I haven't managed to get any further back yet because the family name is DAVIES and it's in Wales and they are all hiding from me!  :D

There is a history of twins on mum's side of the family.

More recent.....  my son and daughter-in-law's children, have a grandmother who is an identical twin (not me!) and a great-grandmother, who is also an identical twin (no missed generation there ;D).  Another great-grandmother of theirs, my mum, is a twin (girl/boy).  My daughter-in-law also has twin girl/boy cousins!

It must be second nature to my grandchildren to see (and want!) double.... my granddaughter is requesting a twin pram and twin dolls for Christmas this year!!
