On the 1851 census at The Hale, 6 Brook Place, Tottenham, I have John MASON age 25, his wife Ester (20) and son John (1) with George TRUMAN and his wife Allefore (?). At 6 Brook Lane is Ester TRUMAN (60) and her son Timothy. Ester MASON's maiden name was TRU(E)MAN so I assume that the people at No 6 are Ester's mother and brother and that George at No 6 is also her brother.
On Googlemap I can see "The Hale" at Tottenham but not "Brook Lane" which I suppose has now gone. Am I right in assuming that is where they lived? (I see a "Brook Road" in Tottenham but near to Wood Green so I am assuming that The Hale is a better match - the census district is "Tottenham High Cross Hard")
John MASON and Ester/Esther/Hester TRU(E)MAN (various certificates use different spellings) were married Sep qr 1847 reg at Hackney but I haven't got the certificate. I would love to know where they were married, or if there are other children earlier than the John on the census.
The Masons emigrated to Australia in 1852 so they won't appear on any later records. I cannot find either of them, or any of Ester's family on the 1841 census.
Any help gratefully received.
Cheers, Judith in Australia
