I'm wondering whether someone can tell me about Cary's Mill which is described as being near Castle Cary. My
gg grandfather completed his blacksmith's apprenticeship there in the 1850s at a place called the Somerset Ironworks the proprietor of which was a Mr Parsons. My gg grandfather, Samuel A'Court, lived in Galhampton and is described as walking "a few miles" to work each day. Looking on the net I saw that in the present day there is a Somerset Ironworks at Shepton Mallet which looks to be about ten miles from Galhampton. I don't know if there is any connection between this Somerset Ironworks and the one in the 1800s. I would be very grateful of any information about Cary's Mill and the Somerset Ironworks, and would also be interested to find out which parish Cary's Mill was in, in the 1850s.
