How did you find the 1861 census... I can't find it on ancestry or IGI :S
Who is he with...are his parents or any bros and sisters with him???

1861 census will not be on the IGI

It is available on Ancestry ifyou have a subscription.

If that is th ecase you should be able to access it via the ref number I gave.

He wasnt with family - just with the people he was apprenticed to.
Sorry I didnt jot down their names - in a rush now but can look again another time if you cant access it.

I've got subscription with Ancestry but when I type in Frederick Carins only the 1871 census comes up for me not the 1861.
How do I put the ref number into Ancestry....?

Hi,

   Im sure Lizdb wont mind me answering you

   If you go to Ancestry home page and go to year 1861 you will then be able to enter the

  numbers. RG9 will already be on there so just enter other numbers in boxes

i've just looked at it again - the couple are Moses and Jane Midwinter and their child.
I dont know why you cant get to it.
Click on 1861 census

just put in Carins and the ref No - not too much info

he is actually indexed as Fredrick not FredErick, so if you put FredErick and click exact match there wont be one. Dont tick exact match - I dont EVER)

Thats a good tip...I always put exact but the names change so much...!
