Stoke Pero - PARAMORE
« on: Friday 17 October 08 11:17 BST (UK) »
Hi
Am looking for evidence of birth of Thomas Paramor around 1700, possibly at Stoke Pero.
He and Lucy had Robert in 1731. (Stoke Pero)

(Most confusing is a Thomas and Lucy Paramore had children in Luccombe during 1730s and a Thomas Paramore was born - in Luccombe - in 1718....too young to have had Robert surely??)
Appreciate any help.

Are you sure it was his birth record not his baptism  ??? as I cant see it on the IGI

Yes..... as age is in question here..... he may have been born much earlier than his batism date.... some families did them "en block" so to speak.

So he is a  distinct posibility .

Hi Sprout, I've been off this site for a little while and I've just seen your posting. I have transcripts of the Stoke Pero and Luccombe Parish registers, Unfortuntely for you the Stoke Pero ones are not very complete and they have huge gaps in them. In respect of what you are seeking there is no record of a baptism for Thomas PARRAMORE/PARRAMOUR. However, the  baptismal records are missing from 1678 until 1704. It's at this point that you get lucky as there is a baptism record for an  Elias PARAMORE on 6 May 1704 son of Nicholas and Elizabeth. There are no other baptismal records until the baptism of Robert PARAMORE on 18 Feb 1730 son of Thomas and Lucy.
In respect of the Luccombe baptism  for Thomas PARAMORE it is recorded as on 8 Mar 1717 son of Thomas( no mothers name recorded).  There is a another baptism in the Luccombe Parish registers on 5 Jan 1719 for Gregory PARAMORE son of Thomas. There are no more either before or after this date within a reasonable family time frame. I would be careful about committing to this Luccombe baptism unless you have other supporting evidence. If you need any other assistance    contact me . I have the Parish registers for LUCCOMBE, STOKE PERO, SELWORTHY,  CUTCOMBE and WOOTTON COURTENAY.  Regards Trevor Paul
