Dear Ellen
Saw your reply but must request you to be precise in you questions i.e.sources-Irish Times and or Slaters and or Shaw. The Irish Times shows April 30th 1885 on Page 2 in an advert. the namether William Taylor and on February 13th 1893 on Page 1 in Deaths Section Myra (widow of William Taylor) and further on February 14th 1894 in an advert on Page 8 William Taylor.
The children-note there is no such address as 705 Rathmines-I checked 105 Lower Rathmines Road and 105 Upper Rathmines but I have no reference to Taylors in my I.T. source work. For the other children I need at least a street name or a district (not too large-Sanford was small enough).
Enjoy your trip to Dublin and revert with fresh questions if you wish

Dear Quaxer,
Thanks for the reply.  I logged on to the Irish Times pay site but I must not be searching correctly because I can's get the preview of the below to show up.  I want to make sure I am searching properly before I comitt to paying.  Could you give me some search tips for that site?  As for the children I am still working on them.  I have ordered some tapes form the Civil Registry so I can find more information.  I know the below:

Elizabeth - No Records
William George - Solicitor
Charles - No positive identifying records
Augustine - No records
Alfred James - Settled in Rhodesia
Harriette - married a Solicitor (records ordered)
James- Liverpool to Halifax Canada with Adrian
Adrian - Liverpool to Halifax to USA (Chicago Ill)
Maude - No Records

Hopefully between the records I have ordered and the ITs I will be able to find more.
Thank you,
Ellen

... all of their children's Christenings are listed at Eustace Street Presbyterian Church.  I also find it curious that during the time they attended that church the pastor's name was Philip Taylor.
There isn't any such church or minister listed in records of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Is this the church you mean (see below)? If so, it was Unitarian, not Presbyterian.

Hi,
It could be Unitarian  but the FHL film lists them as Presbyterian Collection Eustace Street Church which no longer exists.  It is the "The Ark" children's center now.  Here is a link to the film I was looking at.

Thank you,

Very strange. I checked a History of Congregations of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and it's not listed- there's also no minister named Philip Taylor listed in the index- and then found the link I posted above showing it to be Unitarian.

some additional information from Thom's directories

1850 - between numbers 11 and 12 Eustace St.

   Presbyterian Meeting House
    Rev. J.C. Ledlie, D.D. 31 Essex St
& Rev. Joseph Hutton A.M. ministers

the only other possible religious congregation that I see listed on the street is a 'Friends meeting house' at No 5

In 1877 the Presbyterian Meeting House is not listed anywhere on Eustace street and the Friends meeting house has a John P. Beale as registering officer..

some more information on the Bennetts and Taylors from directories

Thom's 1850

Alfred Taylor, solicitor and master extraordinary of
Chancery for England, &c 185 Brunswick st. gt.

William Taylor, solicitor, 185 Brunswick street, great

Charles Bennett, auctioneer and valuator, house and land
agent - sale rooms,  14 Dame st and Blakeney parade, Sandymount

not sure if these are connected but these are from the Rathfarnham section :

Thomas Bennett esq, Bloomville - Rathfarnham Road
Joseph Taylor esq, Rose Villa - Rathfarnham Road
  John Taylor eq, Newbrook, Ballyboden

Thom's 1863

Charles Bennett and son, auctioneer & valuator
house and land agents, 6 Ormond quay and Woodstock Ranelagh

William Taylor solicitor, 14 Ormond quay lwr,
    res. 3 Mountain view, Sandford

no sign of Alfred. Sandford is just south of Ranelagh.

some earlier details from Treble Almanac/Wilson's Directory (1829)  :

Attorneys

Alfred Taylor, KCE*! 33, gt Brunswick st
  * King's bench, Common pleas & Exchequer, ! admitted solicitors in Chancery Jan 1791

Not sure if that could be the same Alfred or his father.. but with the occupation, street and surname match I thought it would be worth mentioning.
