... not wanting to duplicate all his replies...

Indeed - that is my only rationale. Thanks for understanding - I didn't mean to offend anyone :)

Seems most people with AVG haven't had a problem, like Dave and myself.

However, something I thought of as a web programmer myself is that the actual problem most likely is NOT contained in the code for Hugh's site.
Using something called .htaccess someone else with a rootsweb site could potentially write code that would affect other sites on the same server.
Now, I've never used rootsweb hosting so I do not know their T&C's and such regarding the usage of .htaccess. All I'm saying is that it can be done - indeed I use one on my own server that affects several of my domains (intentionally - to prevent hotlinking of certain images).

I'm a member of another family history forum and some one there has posted the following link to an archived Hugh Wallis site.

Hi I'm new too, as I have AVG I took a risk and tried this, but although it allows access to the batch numbers, when you submit a name query it comes back with NOT IN ARCHIVE for all batches.

I noticed that Leonie and it just goes to show how popular and well used Hugh's site was.  Let's hope it returns soon.  :)

Just to re-iterate what has been given elsewhere.

You can still use the archive site to obtain the batch numbers and then type them in manually.
