This new site is absolutely awful - it doesn't even find stuff that I know is there!!

What do you mean by 'new site'   ???
The Family Search Site is there are it always was - or at least it is for me.

The other site (searchlabs) is, as Stan said earlier, a pilot site. Much of the information contained is in the form of scanned images which are not searchable and must be looked through page by page.

When I go to my saved link/bookmark I end up with the new Familysearch pilot page

If your still getting the old/same Family search webpage go to search on the top of the page and click on search records/record search pilot to see what we are on about

First of all may I say  THANK YOU   so much to Hugh for doing the site and also coming on this thread so we can send him our thanks personally.

I have just come off phone to Ancestry and they suggested I send an e mail to                                                                                                             customersolutions {--a t --} tgn.com

I wanted to personal message this to Hugh but I keep getting PM box limit full - so apologies for doing this way.

Hugh could you please try sending a mail and see if they can help rectify the problem    :'(  :'(

Thank you

Jo

The other day when I was checking for useful family history web-sites to send to a friend who has just started family history research an "Antivirus 2009" box popped up asking us if we would like a free virus check of the PC.  Apparently "Antivirus 2009" is a known virus, but AVG didn't seem to pick it up before the box popped up on the screen.  They tell you that you have a virus and suggest you download their software to remove it. In fact the software is itself a virus and they then demand money to remove it.
We closed down the PC immediately and ran AVG but luckily no harm had been done.  Next day I went to the Hugh Wallis site and the same thing happened.  It was only today, when a friend said Hugh's site was down that my husband made the connection between the two, so perhaps that is the problem.

I too add my thanks to Hugh for all his work.

Beth.

Hi Hugh

I would also like to add a big thank you to Hugh.  I have used it for a very long time and found it indespensable.
