1861 or 1871 Census Look Up Oldham
« on: Monday 31 January 05 21:52 GMT (UK) »
Hello  :D

I was hoping someone could do a look up for me for the 1861 or 1871 Census.

I am looking for a family I have found in 1841 (Lord Hill, Oldham) and 1851 (Bow Street, Oldham below town)  I hope someone can find them in 1861 or 1871.

Joseph Fox 1829/30
Ann Fox 1830/32
Mary E Fox 1850/1851
Alice Fox 1853

All should be born in Lancashire and Joseph could be listed as a Coal Miner.

Thank you for your time
Bev

Hi

Can you clarify something.  You say you found the FAMILY in 1841 but at that time, Joseph would only have been 11/12 and Ann between 9-11.

Your message suggests they are husband and wife and that Mary and Alice are their children - is that correct?

If not - are they siblings?  If so, I can only search the 1871 for Joseph as the girls may have married by then.  Who was his wife?

Hello,

Yes Joseph and Ann are husband and wife and I have them with their parents in the earlier census.  I had a direct line from their child Alice.

I would really appeciate if you could check them in 1871,  I don't know what happend to Mary but Alice didn't marry until July 1875 at St Thomas, Oldham.

Thank you

Hi

I'm not having much luck at the moment.  The Joseph Fox's in that age group are not married to Ann.  I found one who was a widower visiting another family but he was a commercial warehouseman.

Were he and Ann still alive in 1881?

Hello,

I have not  been able to find them in any census after 1851 but I also can't find a death certificate for either.

Alice's marriage certificate does not state that Joseph is dead but as we all know they don't always listed is the father is dead.

Thank you for your time in looking for me it is most appreciated.
