1851, 1861, Salford, 1871 New Mostyn
« on: Monday 31 January 05 21:17 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to sort out this HODGSON family from little info
Christopher Hodgson b. c1817 Kirby Stephens, Westmorland
Mary ?? wife b. c1843 Bothel, Cumberland
Mary seems much younger & I wonder if she is a second wife?

The children:-  Christopher born Salford, Lancs c1862
Mary born Bothel c1872....her mothers birth place & 10 years younger
Ada born New Mostyn outside Manchester
Ernest also born New Mostyn      "

Bothel has no church & comes under Torpenhow but I found no
marriage for Christopher & Mary.

Please could somebody see if they can find any of them on a census in
1841, 51 & 61 Probably Salford.

If anybody has the 1871 census for New Mostyn a look up please.

Did he marry the 2nd Mary in New Moston?
If he was a reasonably well-to-do businessman (employing 31 somethings), perhaps the family split their time between Manchester and Westmorland.

Hello
Thanks very much for the census info. I am still following the family & the 1861 & 1871 confirms by

the age of wife Mary he must have lost his first wife & married again to another Mary. Most

confusing!

Yes, but a younger model.   :D

What's your interest in the family?  Are you related?
