Hi Thankyou all for offering to assist. I have 4 marriage certificates between William Morgan and Mary Richards but none of the William Morgan's is a harpist. Believe the marriage [if it ever took place would have been Glamorgan Merthyr Tydfil or maybe Pontypridd. Daniel LLewellyn had six children all have Daniel as the father and Ann Davies as the mother. As the 1st child was born 1852 looked for a marriage about 1850. The only marriage found was Daniel LLewelln to a Ann Lewis. out of curiosity I purchased this certificate and to my amazement one of the witnesses was a Ann Davies. Have been tying to find out if by error the reistrar might have got the names wrong , but so far nothing has been proved. Eirwen

Hi Eirwen

I see from your post http://www.rootschat.com/links/04hx/ that you have the 1852 certificate and that you are wondering if the surnames were switched on the certificate?

What was the Ann “Lewis” father’s name & occupation on the marriage certificate?  Have your tried finding a matching Ann Davies or Ann Lewis on earlier censuses?

The name Ann Davies was such a common one it could have been a friend or even the bride's mother.  Another possibility is that Ann Lewis was a widow with maiden name Davies.

I found this couple in 1851 in Tredeger, Monmouthshire but couldn't find them again on 1861 - nothing new for me ;)
