Dear Bob,

I am a Titterington, whose family originated in County Down, Ireland.  I noticed your post about Esther Jane Currie, nee Titterington.  You mention that you have the marriage certificate for Alexander Titterington and Mary McAleenan, her parents, who were married in County Down.  I have tried to find that certificate, but have not been able to find it.  In addition, you mention that you have information from a Mrs. Kay Simpson about County Down Titteringtons.  I would really like to get more information about this.  Is there some way that I can access your information?

I am a great grandaughter of Alexander and Mary.  They lived in Glasgow where he died in 1887 aged 43.   She remarried a McLoughlinn and died in 1909.  Both certs attached .  They are listed in the 1881 and 1891 census in the Bridgeton areea.  I would really love to have a copy of their marriage cert.

Was Alice Titterington supposed to be from Co. Down?

My G grandmother was Mary Ann Haslem nee Titterington.  She shows up in the 1901 census as residing with her brother James Titterington in Lurganville, Moira, and is listed as 44 yo.  I know she had at least 3 children, Samuel Titterington (aka Samuel Haslem), Minnie (or Mary) Haslem, and Thomas Haslem.  Does anyone have information on this branch of the Titteringtons?

Hi,
A little more information on the above marriage. The fathers'names were John Heslem and Richard Titterington. While searching for the fathers I came across acouple of oddities,

10 Aug 1877 Nathaniel Heslem (father John) married Susan Murphy in Aghalee C of I, Lurgan

31 Jan 1877 Robert Tittering (father Richard) married Maria Heslem (father John) in Shankill C of I, Lurgan

Thanks, you both just confirmed a suspicion that I had that Nathaniel was previously married.  I had found a reference to a marriage of William John Haslem in 1913 that listed his father as Nathaniel.  Nathaniel also willed his farm to Thomas Haslem and Robert Titterington, now I see the possible connection there.
