clark/hair family
« on: Thursday 09 October 08 13:11 BST (UK) »
I am researching Francis Anthony Clark married to Margaret Ure Hair who firstly emmigrated to Canada from Glasgow married in Toronto  in 1912 and then moved to Ohio between 1915/1917.  Margaret had a sister Elizabeth Hair who married Leonard Swan in Toronto in 1915 but I do not know if they also went to Ohio.

Margaret and Francis are on the 1920 census in Cleveland Ohio along with their 2 sons James and Adolphe

Hoping to contact others who maybe researching the same family

Many thanks

On the 1920 Census, the child who is transcribed on Ancestry as Adolph is listed as a daughter.  The name on the actual image looks more like Adolphia or Adelphia to me.  In the 1930 Census, the family appears to be in Cleveland still with their daughters listed as Delphia (age 10) and Margaret (age 7).  Brother Alexander Morton, age 40 and born in Scotland, is also with the family.

There is a tree on Ancestry that lists your Margaret and Francis as parents of Delphia Elizabeth Clark, born 11 May 1919 in Cleveland and died 30 June 1992 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

On the Cleveland Necrology file (link is available here:  http://cpl.org/) , there is a death for a Margaret Clark in April of an unknown year.  It says she was the wife of Frank A., who was deceased, and "mother of James (deceased) Delphia Van E? and Margaret ?".   She was also the sister of Alexander Morton, Harry Morton of England, Elizabeth Bothwell, Thomas Hair (deceased), and Nell Hair (deceased).  Does that sound like it might fit your Margaret?  If so, there is also an obit for Thomas Hair from 16 Aug. 1957 that mentions a surviving sister named Elizabeth Rothwell.  Perhaps the Elizabeth you mentioned remarried?

No problem.  It appears that there are also obituaries on the link I gave you for Alexander Morton and Louis Von Es (husband of Delphia).  Francis is listed as Clark, Frank A. (Scotty) or Clark, Prank A on 5 Sep. 1953.
