Walter Morgan born 1866 Saint Petersburg, Russia Complete

Can anyone please give me any help with finding details regarding the parents of Walter Morgan born in Russia.

The IGI sates birth 24 JUN 1865  Christening 13 FEB 1866   British Chaplaincy, Saint Petersburg, Russia,
Parents John and Elizabeth Morgan.

By 1881 there is a Walter Morgan born in Russia lodging at 69 Dinas Rd, Llantrisant, Glamorgan, Wales. He gives his date of birth as 1853, but I think it must be him.

By 1891 and 1901 he has married with a family, and the right age.

I really don't know how I can establish anything about his parents.
The story in the family is that one of our ancestors was the first child born in Russia to Welsh parents, and that they were given a gift by the then Tsar. Though I don't know if it was Walter. Also that Walters father was an mining engineer.

Any further information would be gratefully received.

Clare if you go onto the BBC Homepage for Wales you will find an interesting article about John Hughes who founded the town of Hughesovka or in Russian Yuzovka, this was primarily a coal mining and steel town in St Petersburg.
When he went to Russia he took with him a hundred miners and engineers from Wales.
There are a lot of letters on this page from descendants of these people.

The Morgans may well have been involved in this enterprise. But they were in Russia prior to John Hughes acquiring the land to build on in 1869.  As Walter was born in 1865.

Hi Clare just checked the IGI and you are right, there were Morgans in Russia in the 1790's.
