Baptism - James STANTON c1767
« on: Wednesday 08 October 08 02:37 BST (UK) »
Looking for the baptism for James Stanton (born about 1767-1770), of Weybread, married at St Cross South Elmham, 1799 to Sarah Smith.  Died Pulham 1829, miller.  Not found in Weybread CofE registers.

Would appreciate if someone could check the Needham registers for his birth (and any other syblings).

Also if anyone has the 'independent' church registers for Weybread or close parishes.

Hi Ross

If no one can help with this, lookups from the Weybread and Needham registers are available from The Suffolk Surnames List.

Thanks Rick.  have had a reply from the Weybread contact and also viewed the CofE transcripts available from lds, but not found.  The Stanton 'family' seem to have interests (milling and farming) in a number of townships nearby from the late 1600's.  With some 45 parishes within a 4 mile radius (many independents), the target is a bit elusive.  The marriage was 1796 St Cross, my error.  Sarah, the first child was baptised in Redenhall, James and family then moved to Pulham.
I am hoping that someone may have a magic touch to help!

Hi RossT

Just to confirm the Look Ups Exchange at the Suffolk Surnames List web site has Needham Market (early PRs for the parish were under St Mary's at Barking).

However, I suspect that you are actually looking for Needham in Norfolk?
