Suffolk Quarter Session Lookup

Would anyone be able to do a check of quarter session records for me all I have in Australia is Henry Rampling tried Suffolk quarter sessions 9 july 1839, I am trying to locate where he may have come from to locate his parents and where born in suffolk. I have no idea where in Suffolk he came from so hoping this may shed some light, as he arrived in Australia 1840 before the 41 census.

This might be him, from Ipswich Journal = 31st May, 1834.

If this is the Henry Rampling who arrived in Australia on the ship Woodbridge, aged 18, convicted of burglary then there are family trees which have information about his parents and where he was born.

he was tried 1839 as per his convict record in Australia, and the family tree regarding bury st edmonds is incorrect as that Henry rampling did not come to Australia I checked census information......I'm hopeing his quarter session record may tell where he was as I cannot get a marriage certificate in england as he married in Australia and all his death certificate says is born suffolk.

Bury Adjourned Sessions.

Henry Rampling, 17, charged with having stolen a silver watch, the property of Mr. Henry Howse of Ballingdon, also having received a pair of trousers knowing them to have been stolen, the property of Mr. William Cook, was found guilty, and sentenced to 15 years transportation.




Ballingdon then was a small hamlet in Essex, near Sudbury. Nowadays it is part of Sudbury.


Maybe Henry came from the Sudbury area. Years ago in Sudbury there used to be a building firm called Wakeling and Rampling, maybe there is a connection.
 


Having checked the 1841 census for Sudbury, there doesn't appear to be any Ramplings in the town at that time.

Hi Manga,
I am from the same family but descended from James rampling, his brother. I have sent quite a lot of information to Sherrie (Boogarbooz) and there will be more to follow.  I have access to an ancient photo and letters written by James his father to James his son on the Ballarat gold fields. I will post copies at a later date. James the father was born in Sudbury (maybe) 22 Sept 1793. He probably died in Lambeth London about 1858 but need someone to search that out.
PS. I havent worked out how to attach a letter or photo yet.

In the 1861 census there is a James Rampling, aged 67, shoemaker, at Waterloo Road, Lambeth.  He was born Long Melford, Suffolk.  Long Melford is a village about a mile or two from Sudbury.
