Ripley, Surrey
« on: Monday 06 October 08 23:01 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for any information on Arthur William LEGGE or sometimes called Arthur William DARBY-LEGGE.

He was originally from Staffordshire but died in Ripley in 1955.

All we know is that he was a Capt in WW1 and Lt in WW2.

Any information on where he might be buried or any info would be welcome.

Thanks
Russ

Per GRO index - he was aged 61 when he died in the December qtr of 1955 which puts his birth year around 1894

The 1901 only has one Arthur Legge b Staffs in that age range and parents were Arthur and Henrietta Catherine

If this is the right person - send me a pm with your email address and I will send you the 1901 image

I did a search for "Arthur Darby-Legge" on the Times archive site and brought up a reference in the edition of March 25, 1920, apparently in connection with a divorce case. I don't have a subscription to the site at the moment but you might like to take a look yourself. http://archive.timesonline.co.uk/tol/archive/
