South Creake Marriage look-up
« on: Monday 06 October 08 18:48 BST (UK) »
Phillimore's Marriages CD shows a marriage between John BONEN and Ann LUNNAS on October 12th 1802 at South Creake.   I wonder if anyone is able to do a  look-up on the Parish Records for me to see if the groom's father is given and who the witnesses are if given.   I think the bride's name might be LUNNIS not LUNNAS as a probable birth for her has been found on the IGI and its possible the groom might be BONE or BUNN.
TIA
Jane

Thanks for that.
I need to find out if the father of this John BONEN was Nathaniel BONE/BUNN to know whether or not this John and Ann were my ancestors...

Hi Jane

On PRs only witnesses given for marriages - fathers were included after late 1837 when civil registration was brought in. Exception being if one party was under age & needed parents permission it may give father's name.

LUNNIS/LUNNAS - the spelling was down to the vicar. You could have 5 children with the same parents baptised by the same vicar who decided that 2 of them were LUNNIS & 3 of them were LUNNAS.

If you haven't already got it here is the link for FreeReg where you might be able to find the marriage which will show the whole entry if it is from the PRs.
