George Henry Gibson, Ashton-under-lyne
« on: Monday 06 October 08 03:37 BST (UK) »
Hi guys, can anyone help me find a George Henry Gibson's mother and father's identities i cant seem to trace them anywhere.

his full details are

George Henry Gibson
Born-1883
Died-1955
Married Ethel Davis in 1935 at Ashton registry office.
I'm pretty sure he'd be from the Hurst area of Ashton as thats where all the relatives seem to be from but could be elsewhere, thanks everyone.

p.s. Ethel Davis has a previous husband called William Morisson who died in 1930 aged 28 if that helps, cheers

Welcome to RootsChat Wilbo  :)

I'm afraid the name is just not uncommon enough for us to identify him directly.

If you purchase the marriage certificate it should (hopefully!) tell you his father's name. From there we might be able to track him down on censuses.

I don't know if you've been in private contact with Woody since your last post ... In case you haven't, here are the 1891 details:

1891
RG12/3288 5 4
Dukinfield, Cheshire
Aspley St 405

George H Gibson, head, 32, Cabinet Maker, b. Lancashire Salford
Mary, wife, 31, b. Liverpool
John, son, 8, scholar, b. Salford
George H, son, 6, scholar, b. do.
Robert, son, 2, b. West Gorton

 :)

By 1901, there are 2 new sons showing: Albert age 9 and William age 7, both born Dukinfield

Do the names ring any bells then?  :)

I certainly don't wish to dictate you how to do things but if they were mine, I'd get the 1935 marriage certificate to make sure I'm following the right family.
