Barker's Farm near Amersham
« on: Monday 06 October 08 02:25 BST (UK) »
My husband's grandmother and family lived for a time (c.1893 -c.1909) at Barker's Farm near Amersham. I recently found an old photo that might be of the farm. Can anyone verify whether it is or is not? The photo was taken in the 1940's and is captioned "the back of your grandmother's farm".

Hi Pua

I'm afraid I don't know Amersham but googling the town, I came across this site

http://www.amersham.org.uk/ It may be worth emailing them to see if they could help.

Alternatively, try the Bucks Family History Society as there is mention of a Barkers Farm on their website but sadly no picture. The address is http://www.bucksfhs.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=127&Itemid=120

good luck

Thank you for your help Dinie. A newly found distant cousin has been in touch with a thatcher and he/she thinks that this building style may be from East Anglia. As my husband's great grandparents came from Suffolk/Essex, perhaps the "Your grandmother's farm" written on the back of the photo was referring to my husband's great grandmother rather then my husband's grandmother.
