Hey ho, we learn the hard way! I have had a 10 page comprehensive document some of which confirms what I already knew but with much more detail, so I don't feel I can complain.

Returning to the "E12" part: there was a medical category 'E' which was for men who were "unfit and unlikely to become fit within 6 months".

Some of the words require further researching to find out what they mean!!
