heehee :D mab, are you refreshing the page every 30 seconds? ;D

We need some side-by-sides for comparison. For the hair, I'd say that's him too, but look at the noses...the 1st pic shows a man with a curvy, retroussé nose, but the gent in the group pic has a very straight, aquiline nose...

Off to bed now, night all :D

Thanks mab, it is a fantastic photo, isn't it?  I love the hats, and even the small details like the matching ladies' gloves!  But it is a pity about the pipe.  The wedding was in Bridlington (I don't really have any connection with Ottawa, other than having lived there for a while).

There is actually a separate thread in the Common Room at the moment concerning which brother is which, but thanks for your vote, although my own opinion is different, I think he is the first standing man from the right!

But anyway, going back to the original, isn't this photo more likely to date from 1900 than 1930?

I've scanned the wedding at 300dpi, but even after some cropping it is 770kb, which is over the limit for posting.  Is there some trick I can use?

Cheers

Don't crop, reduce. Doesn't your photo editor have a Resize function? Reduce the % of the photo until it's below 500kb, save, and post. You'll have to rename the photo slightly...adding a letter or number to the filename will do.

Really off to bed now, night.

Great, thanks China and Mab!

Oh dear ... I'm at my technological limits here ... I've compressed the photo, I hope that's the appropriate step!

Cheers

Thanks Sylvia ... so can we conclude that the photo is around the turn of the century, rather than around the 1930s, and that therefore the gentleman in the photo is almost certainly the father, rather than the son?
