Wow - that's fantastic  I'd love copies of any photos, correspondence, records etc you have for my great grandparents - that would be fabulous

I have John's wife as being Eleanor (nee Williams) - I got her maiden name from William's birth certificate (my grt grt grandfather)

I'd assumed they married in Liverpool as he was a master mariner - and perhaps was docked / based over Liverpool at the time of their marriage

It's possible Margaret's father Owen (also a mariner) was based at Liverpool... I'm assuming Union St (where they were both recorded as living at the time of their marriage) is i the one in Birkenhead - which may make some degree of sense.

My aunt believe William was born in Ireland, but I suspect it may be his parents that were possibly from Ireland. I know my father always said there was Irish ancestry, but unfortunately he's no longer with us, so I can't find out any more from him

hope to hear from you again

If any of you want to know more about the Eames family log into Ancestry and just search.  GenesReunited has tree with the Eames family too including mine.  many of them go a long way back.  Mine just struggles to 1600 now but it's not complete by a long way.  The top of the part of my tree is Steven Eames c1600 born Llanllyfni Caernarvon.  His wife was Margaret.  I don't have the people you are looking for though.  The Eames family in North West Wales seem to have appeared in Llanllyfni first.  There is a school of opinion that they came from Dorset originally.  If you search Llanos Eames, quite well know if the Caernarvon area I have heard, she may be the same family as you are looking at.  Llanos is also descended from Steven Eames but from a different son of his.

Good look to you all.

Hi Cajondy,

I have my gt grandfather's birth cert. It reads Henry Ems born 17 Dec 1853 father John Ems mother Ellen Ems formerly Williams address Morfa Groes Llanengan reg dist Pwllhelli. Henry is the younger brother to your William Eames.  I have traced the family name to present day, but the Eames girls prove difficult when their name is changed to Williams, Roberts etc. There are marriage refs. for some of Elizabeth's children on FreeBMD, but I don't have any certs to prove if they are correct.  I think I have traced my branch to 1970's but again I don't have the certs. Hope this helps your research.
