I would suggest that you go to the website of the National Archives of Scotland - www.nas.gov.uk - and click on catalogues. This takes you to a page that contains some information about High Court of Justiciary records which you can follow through to see if there is anything about the person you are concerned with. I don't think these records are available on line.

Hope this helps

Thank you, Tom.    This is fantastic information.  Can you please tell me how I can obtain a copy of the court trial transcript, or whatever it was that provided this information.  I am happy to pay for it.   So appreciate your help.  Margaret

Go to http://www.nas.gov.uk/onlineCatalogue/ and type in your ancestor's name in the search box and follow the onscreen prompts.

When you find the record, and you click on the blue reference number, it will take you to further information about the record, and at the top right of the page there is a green and grey question mark with "What Now?".  Click on that and you should find contact details for the National Archives.

I have purchased a couple of records from them before and the service is excellent.

Margaret,

You will need to go to      http://www.nas.gov.uk/onlineCatalogue/

and do a search fo Susan Martin, then select the 16 Jul 1839 record. Once it opens, press the ? what now symbol, it explains that you have to contact them and they will give cost of copying document.

Good luck

Tom

Thanks, Tom,  I have tracked the record down and have emailed the National Archives Office to see whether I can get a copy of the original manuscript.  Thanks for your assistance.  Margaret
