Hi Dan Delion
I found quite a bit of information on the Ridgley's of Buckinghamshire at
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&db=hrohrer&recno=97411

I also found information on the Lacey or Lacy families on the Family Search site and have been able to go back to Henry Lacey born about 1572 in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire.

I hope that helps.

Hi Jack,

I do not suppose you are a descendant of

William Alfred, b. 1869

are you.  We are interested in more information about his wife Ada.

Thanks       :)

Thanks Jack,

already checked out the rootsweb link ... some good info, but also a few errors I've found.

My ancestor is Solomon, so I guess we are related :)

Do you have your ancestor John's death date?
Also, do you have much on John and Solomon's brothers and sisters, other than what is on the rootsweb site?  For example, what happened to Elizabeth?

I have a William Ridgley too, b1793 in Saunderton, married Elizabeth Hawks 16th Dec 1819 - do you know where he connects into the Ridgley line?

Thanks

Oops, think that should have been b1796.

His father George was born around the same time as Daniel (b1771) in the same town

William and his brother Absolom (b1797) both had Thomas Ayres witness their marriages, as did Joshua (b1798) who was John and Solomon's younger brother.

I'm hoping this supports the two sides of the family joining - unless of course Thomas was just an important man in the town and a serial wedding witnessser  ;)

Peonynon and Dan
Unfortunately, I can't add to what you have already.
My g.grandmother Emma Ridgley (1830-1913) was Daniel Ridgley's granddaughter and Solomon's niece.  However I've not yet investigated Solomon's family and that's why I can't add anything.
John Ridgley appears in the 1841 census in Bradenham which is where Emma was born.

Good evening to you all.

I have recently joined this Site and am intrigued at its content, particularly this part where all of you are talking about a connection in some way to the name RIDGLEY.  My G.Grandmother was Mary Jane RIDGLEY whose father was Daniel.

Mary Jane eventually married Charles SHILLITO.  He was killed in the First World War; he was in the Marines.
I will endevour to continue this dialogue when I have marshalled together some more of my information.

In the meantime arrivederci! (I have Italian ancestry too and that is another story!).

Hi Salvatoreperry,

Welcome to Rootschat.

Could you point me in the right direction to your Daniel Ridgley.  I think it must be the one born about 1857 in Flackwell Heath.  I am descended from his elder brother William.  Their father was also called Daniel and born on 30.03.1824 in Bledlow Ridge.

Thanks

Hello Peony.

My ancestor Daniel RIDGLEY was born in 1835 in Saunderton.

According to the 1871 Census he was married to Ellen (nee PRATT) and had daughters Ann (7), Caroline (4), and Jane (10 months); sons James (9), and Charles (6).  Ten years later they had 4 more daughters!  Katie (7), Alice (5), Jemima (4) and Isabella (2).  Jane became Mary Jane (ie. my great grandmother).

I still have other information and need to sort it out.

However I did come across this on the Internet so maybe it will help you.

Hi Salvatore

Welcome to RootsChat.

Peony and I share ancestors.  It looks like your Daniel's father, also Daniel, was the younger brother of our ancestor Soloman Ridgley.  Their father was Daniel (again) b in 1771 and that's where we join up as it were.

If you haven't found it already, you will undoubtedly find this site rich with Ridgleys
