Oldest son was William (apparently born c 1861) and he was the main beneficiary in Mary's Will written 1896, which named 2 farms belonging to her deceased husband William Bell, one at Ballyclaverty and the other at Ballywoodick. My relative, Andrew Gawn of Halftown was one executor and her son William was the other.

Memorial of transfer of farms to William Number 211

If you don't have it already there might be some info to weed out of it.

Hi,

I have some new information that may help with work on the Bryson/McConnell connections.

Rev. Magill of Antrim recorded the McConnell family in his notebook.
This lists 9 children born to Mecum McConnell and Ellen Craig of Ballyvoy.
Sixth child was Anne who married James Bryson of Ballyvoy.
Eighth child was Ellen  - no marriage given but this would be because Rev. Magill was writing this in mid 1830s and Ellen didn't marry Robert Bryson until 1838.

So this confirms Ellen and Anne as sisters which was queried earlier in this thread.

For info the other children in family were:
1. Martha b.1786, married Thomas Service March 1825
2. Mary - married Robert Mackay (her second husband)
3. John - married Margaret McConnell
4. William - married Sarah Gawin (probably should be Gawn)
5. Mecum
7. Margaret - married James Semple
9. Samuel

As Martha was born 1786 and death certificate places Ellen as born around 1808 this seems to be the range of these births though Samuel could be c1810 as they do seem to be in a defined order.

Now that there is a larger McConnell family, DNA can be used to link branches together. I am already aware of someone on Family Tree DNA descended from Ellen who has Semple, Service and Mackay matches.

Thank you!! This is great information!

There are Semples and Mackays mentioned in the branch related to James Bryson d. 1832 Plot 164 Kilbride. I think through his son John 1773-1841. His daughter Elizabeth married a William Mackay. Robert Bryson who married Ellen McConnell was his son according to my records.

I know I have relatives for Ann McConnell but whether they're correct or not is a guess. Your information fills in nicely.

Funny, I had my Brysons open after time spent on my Conner ancestors, a large and wieldly group. I will look at it closer.

I still don't know how James Bryson d.1832 Plot 164 is related to me. The current Ballyvoy residents are directly related to him. I'm guessing he was a cousin of John W or something like that.

Again, thank you!!

Glad it has been useful!

Hopefully we'll be able to prove some DNA links soon.
