Family lore says that Kate's maiden name was Feeley.  Another source says she was born in Bradford, YKS, not Darlington, DUR

Hi Margot

Just something else to add to the discussion...

1871 shows 9 Feeleys born in Bradford, but no Kate or Catherine.
1881 shows only 8 Feeleys as born in Bradford, only one of which is a Catherine - born 1856 (making her 25 in 1881), unmarried and occupation Worsted Spinner - she is a prisoner in Lancashire.
10 Feeleys in 1891 but no Kate.

1871 shows 21 Fletchers born Darlington, but no Kate or Catherine.
1881 shows 28 Fletchers born Darlington, but again, no Kate or Catherine.
1891 shows 30, only one Kate or Catherine (the one found in Middlesborough).

I too have looked at the 1891 image and Casalguidi and Heather are right, it is definitely FLETCHER.

Cheers

Paul

You guys are wonderful!  :D :D :D  Thanks for all the lookups.

I don't have Eliza's marriage certificate (she was married in Montreal, Canada) but I will get a copy from the vital statistics office.

Also, the Eliza Hollingsworth birth certificate in Q3 1890 sounds interesting.   If I can confirm her age from the marriage certificate, then I'll order the birth certificate.

I'll let you know what I get, but it might take a few weeks till I get these certificates..

In the meantime, thank you once again - I am truly bowled over by everyone's generosity with their time and ideas!
