Hello. James Proudfoot was my father. He did indeed have children - 7 of us! I am the youngest. As you have already learned, he was born in 1914 - which makes it the centenary of his birth next year. He had a very interesting life - with a career spent in the Fife coal mining industry. It would be good to hear about your link to him.
