Tonyrefail is registered in Pontypridd, (sub district Llantrisaint)

A birth shows up in the right quarter

Dec 1911 / district Pontypridd /vol 11a /page 1190
Mary J Morris - mother's maiden name Davies

The birth certificate would show the exact date, and the names of the parents.
I don't know if it is your Mary J,   without something (just a little more) to go on.

But it is the only Mary J Morris showing up anywhere for the year and quarter.

If you got this birth certificate (from here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/  )  and it has the right day/date of birth, you would have the parents' names, and the mother's maiden name.

There is a marriage

June 1927 district Cardiff/ vol 11a/ page 697
Harry C Morris to Winifred J King

Only trouble is I can't find a child born in subsequent years in that area for surname Morris, mother's maiden name King.  But may not be in freebmd just yet.  You would need to go through the full indexes.

Also can't find a Harry/Henry Morris marriage to Davies in Glamorgan in relevant years.

And I can't find a Harry/Henry Morris death 1937 through to 1941.

Interesting births with Pontypridd registration, surname Morris all with mmn Davies

Dec 1911 Mary J
June 1913 Dora M
Dec 1914 Ruth
Dec 1919 Megan
Mar 1925 Gwyneth

(can be checked on freebmd   -  http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl )

But still cannot link them without just a little more information.   Certs are £7 each.
Can't find Harry Morris marriage to Davies around about these years.

It's best to be cautious with memories.  They aren't accurate most of the time.
You need at least one document to get going.

Here is the death of Mary Jane Matthews according to her birth date

July 2001 Bristol Gloucestershire
Mary Jane Matthews aged 89 born 13th October 1911.

This one won't help much at all, but I put it up for the date of death.

Do you think it is her?

and here is the marriage of Mary J Morris to Eric C K Matthews

Sept quarter 1936, district Bedwellty, vol 11a, page 246

This would give the name of Mary Jane's father

order from here  http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
cost £7

register
page one, fill in and page down to answer YES you have General Register Office Index, which is the name, year, quarter, district, volume, page
page two, delivery details
page three, just fill in the red-starred bits only

It may also be worth the £7 to order this as well - birth of Mary J Morris

You could do with getting the marriage cert of Mary Jane to Eric Matthews - as well as the birth cert, in order to tie them together with the name of the father.

Otherwise you have no link.

im really not sure   thats how my mother remembers her mother saying it  she repeated it in a heavy welsh accent    possibly jenkin??? she talked about him alot   shinkin is actually a wesh surname   from the flemish coming in to south wales   from the low country   sometimes changed to jenkins
