Allthough they married in St Machar - Union Terrace, Maggie gives her address as Menzies Street, Torry which is on the south side of the Dee. Not sure which parish but St Machar was the North part of the city and beyond as far as I can recall.

I've looked through all the Lydia Rose birth regs for 3 and 4th quarters 1906 but don't see any that look likely. Of course, she might not have been called Lydia originally  :-\

I started to search on surname only but gave up. Did find this one that gave me a giggle - 1906 birth reg  - Arch Deacon  ;D

Nothing in any of the RN records online.

Cert time for Dawn, I agree

Thinking about it, the 1914 MC in Thanet would also confirm marital status for Frederick and Edith. There is one birth showing in 1915:

Gertrude H. Solly (mother's maiden name Deacon) in Thanet 1st Qrt 1915, Vol 2a   /Pg. 1996

Dawn

There are so so few records showing for the name Solly in Scotland (only 20  :o births between 1890-2006) and by the sounds of it probably all your relatives  ;D  Only one birth in Aberdeen though, the one I posted earlier, the rest mostly in Lanarkshire.

Let us know what you find.

Hi Dawn

My theory is that Frederick served in WW1 - the medal cards (Army) have a few Frederick C Sollys listed.  I can't find him in the RN records but I think (and it's only speculation) that possibly coming from a family of mariners, he might have joined the RN. This could well fit with a move to Aberdeen.

As Monica says, please let us know your findings from the certs, etc.

I wonder if a posting on the Armed Forces Board (WW1) might bring something up?

Regards

hi
The mariner link does seem likely all my dads brothers and himself worked on the water in some way or another
One of my uncles was lost at sea.

I was just looking on ancestry and there are a few family trees researching SOLLY from the Kent area so i will have a look at them and see if i can link any one.

I am going to have to order my mums birth certificate as I only know her das name and only her mother first name. So i know i wont get anywhere with them until i have more information
