can anyone find out any info on lydia rose solly born 10th August 1906 died 1976
she was married to william robert laing mcrobb born 4th january 1907 dont know when he died

any help appreciated

Hi Dawn

It would be good if you got their 1926 marriage cert., available on line at Scotlands People. This will give you their parents' names to help you try and find their families. You are outside the period where the censuses can help. It may be that their parents also didn't marry until after the 1901 census and you will need to get their marriage details but everything will help you in gathering info on both families.

I've been trying to use the info from it for a while  to find parents but so far nothing much -

Frederick Charles Solly, a labourer and Edith Rose Deacon (I think it's a c!)

Found their marriage 

1914 in Thanet  Edith Rose Deacon married Frederick C Solly

Sept q, Thanet, kent, vol 2a page 2355

So Lydia might be registered as Deacon.

FreeBMD has quite a few Frederick Charles Solly birth registrations in Kent in the possible time period - also in other districts in the SE 

Think the 1914 marriage cert might be the next option.

I've been going round this for the last half an hour    I did see that entry, but that would make her 15 at the time of Lydia's birth (not unheard of I know). The other entry in Croydon was also late, 1890 so not much better.

A number of Frederick Charles Sollys showing as you said, many born in Thanet.

I wonder if Dawn has been able to track down Lydia's birth cert, unlikely I'm sure as she would have said. I can't see it under Solly or Deacon at this stage.
