Hi Keith
Welcome to rootschat.  We do not normally put on details of living people so you may wish to amend your post.  Click the modify button, change it and then click save.
His service records may well be held at Kew.   Are there any further details on the Commonwealth grave site?  You have his number so that is a good start.    Would there have been anything in the local paper?

Here is the reference for his birth cerificate - I realise you know exactly when he was born but I'm not sure if you know his mother's name  - the certificate would give you her maiden name.

If you only want information on your grandad I think it will be unlikely you'll find anyone who can help you on here. If you want to trace his ancestors you have a few suggestions here but you would need to buy the certificates at £7 each to prove they are the correct ones for you.

Joyce has given you a site to look at on the Battle of Singapore.

You will find a record of Arthur's death on the commonwealth war graves site. www.cwgc.org
