Marriage and Baptism look up, if possible please

Hi, I wonder if anyone has access to marriages in Lincolnshire around 1780s please? I have been trying to find the mariage of Isaac Stanley, born c1760, I think in Donington (in Holland, the one near to Spading) I only know his wifes' name was Ann. I would love to know her surname, and who her parents were if possible please. The children that I know about are William c1782, (Baptised in Donington)  Frances c1785 and Abraham, who was born and died in 1789.
If I could find out who Isaacs' parents were  that would be fantastic, as I've hit the proverbial brick wall with this couple! Many thanks for your help.

There's nothing matching in Holland West deanery 1754-1812. The nearest one I could find was:
William STANLEY & Ann AUDISS, 17th November 1775 at Swineshead

On the IGI there is a marriage for:
Isaac STANLEY & Ann CHAMBERS, 9th June 1778 at Greasley, Nottinghamshire

Interesting that they are listed as Sojourners, especially since they married in Crowland and had a child at Donington shortly after.

I Knew Id come across the name Freer before - in relation to the Romanies.

Jack Freer married Louisa Heron aka Young b.cir 1855 Yorks, d/o Aaron Heron aka Young and Delorania Boss d/o Riley.

Im pretty sure Stanley is also a romany surname....

Id consider nosing about on the Travellers board, and possibly joining the Romany & Traveller Family History Society. Putting the name in Google will bring up their website.

I am also looking for Stanley's in Lincs around this time. My last known Stanley was aptised in Louth. The family eventually settled in Laceby, as far as I can see. Most of my Stanleys John or William! But I would like to know were they came from! Any suggestions?

Hello again,
I've been doing some more digging here, one of the witnesses at the marriage of Isaac and Ann Freer had an unusual name - Shebna Beckwith, imagine my surprise when I found (on FreeReg)  that he had been a witness at no less than 74 marriages in Crowland between 1781 and 1811! Many of them had a note to say that one or both parties were sojourners of this parish, just as Isaac and Ann were.
Do you think there could have been  a traveller's comminity of some sort in Crowland at that time?
I haven't found out any more about Isaac and Ann as yet, but I feel they are likely to have been travellers of some sort. Any thoughts would be great!

thats very interesting!! Its certainly true that travellers had their favoured stopping places - a village/town that accepted them happily and where they found good work theyd go back to time and again, and have their kids baptised at the same time. Ive found other "favoured places" such as Billingborough and North Kyme. But the places they would stop would depend on their families - a different family might stop elsewhere, and those two are in regard to my own lot. All I can say is, good luck with the hunting. x
