I had already spotted the George Walker at Little Haddo Farm when looking for George Walker death certificates.

George Walker died 1903,  aged 88, widow Mary (formerly Findlay)

they married 1851 in Banchory Devenick !!!!

Another coincidence is that the 1901 census show a George Walker farmer retired , aged 82, on the same census page as my James Walker

Thanks for all this info and I'll do some more digging

Hi Shelagh2,
I just found your other messages about the Benzie family.
I have found your James Walker in the 1881 census.
and look what he says this time. ;D
1881 Drums Foveran.
James Walker 28yrs forgue
Christina "       27     Foveran
James               5        "
George              4        "
David                 2       "

So this good. At least this links with his mother's home.
In regard to the Marriage of his mother .I bought the cert.
I will send it to you  if you can open attachments.
I also bought the birth, but sadly it is impossible to read.
You could ask Scotlandspeople to interprete it.
The James Low on it was illegitmate, she said she was 24yrs, as she did when she married(although she is not)
She said she was from somewhere in aberdeen (i think)
but I can't make out where she was when she gave birth.

kenjo

Can anybody fill me in any information on the Benzie/s family .I would like to add any information to my tree of some 17,000 names. Thanks Rick& Judy Benzies Canada

This is all rather interesting...Kenjo, is there any way you can email the SP images to me? I'd love to have a go at reading them.
The Helen Low, 6 yrs, niece, in Jamieson 1881 household is d/o Elizabeths brother, Peter George Low and Ann Cameron.

I've been working on this Innes bunch (but got tangled up in LOWs and HARPERs):

1 John Low m Unk - 6 children

2 John LOW 1782 m Eliz GEORGE - 7 children
3 Elizabeth Innes LOW 1832 m George JAMIESON - 6 children
4 James LOW or WALKER? 1855

2 Alexander LOW 1786 m Elizabeth INNES 1799 - 5 children
3 Isabella LOW 1823 m Wm MEARNS - 13 children

Elizabeth INNES b 1799 was d/o Alexander INNES 1754 and an unk Elizabeth LOW (!!)
Elizabeths brother:
Alex INNES Jr 1800 m 1 Ann WILSON - 2 children
                    m 2 Margaret HARPER - 8 children
Margaret HARPER 1802 was d/o Andrew HARPER and an unk Margaret LOW (!!)

It gets even more convoluted...

I have this tree at worldconnect, search keyword: iwforgue
I'll need to update it though

cheers
Pat Innes

Hi momnipresence,
Lovely to hear from you..
It would take me a bit to find this certificate, but if it really is important, then if you give me your address,(by personal message)  then I could ask SP, to do another copy free and post it to you, because it was so hard to read.

shelagh2, have you bought the 1861c yet?
regards,
Jo

Every image you view at SP is saved so you don't have to look for, and pay for, them again.
In the past I've had success with saving images from my viewed images folder at SP and emailing them as attachments.
My problem these days is that I must have 40 pages of searches at SP!!!
Thanks
Pat

Hi Kenjo and Momnipresence

I have kept digging and think I've got somewhere, let me explain.

The birth certificate of James Low that Kenjo found states that his mother comes from Kincardin O Neil -  so she is not the Elizabeth Low from Forgue.
(Scotlands people sent me a new copy which is readable).

I contacted ANESFHS and asked them to look for my James Walker or Low on the 1861 census with his mother Elizabeth who would by then be called Jamieson. (married 1855 to George Jamieson)
Bingo
They couldn't find any James Walker or Low with mother Elizabeth aged about 8-10, but found a James Walker McIntosh son of Elizabeth Jamieson

There is a birth for James Walker McIntosh on IGI (born 1851, christened 1852), father George McIntosh, mother Elizabeth Long. As there are no Long's on the 1841 census I assume this is a misinterpretation of Low.

Anyway I believe Elizabeth Innes Low is my great great grandmother , so Jo are we related?

Regards

Shelagh
