Me Again,
I still wonder if James was Illegitimate.
I found a JAMES LOW being born at Banchory Devenick,
Kincardine. 1855 to mother Elizabeth Low.
I have found the only marriage of a Elizabeth Innes Low to George Jamieson 1855 Forglen Banff.

Maybe Elizabeth had a fling with George Walker, and  this romance hasn't come to marriage., but James always knew who his father was.
Even though George Jamieson raised him.
I have the same situation where my fellow was called after his mothers name, but when he grew up he dropped her surname and was always known by his father surname, even though his mother never married him. :)
Tell me what you think.

Maybe Elizabeth went away to work and met a George down there.
And in regard to the census, you can go to your nearest Mormon Church and order in the film you need, for only $5.oo. ( I am from Australia) They fill get it in for you and you will have about 3 weeks to read it, at their centre. before they send it back, I will try and find out how many children Elizabeth has with george Jamieson. to pinpoint where she is in the census. Are you able to order the marriage cert yourself, with Scotlandspeople. 1855 is the best year for certs.. because they have a lot more on them. They say the date of birth of each, and lots more. VERY HELPFUL.
That they married in 1855.
Kenjo.

P.S. amended

George Jamieson 36 yrs  married Elizabeth Innes Low24 yrs, on  8 dec 1855.
Elizabeths parents were John Low, deceased and Elizabeth George. She was from Forgue, born and usual residence.
Cobairdy. Forgue. ( in the 1841 census it is Comisty)
In 1841
Forgue,
Elizabeth Low 8yrs is at home with Elizabeth Low 45(I think)
---------------------------
In the 1881 Census,The Jamiesons are living at New Deer, at Hill of Knaven.
Gorge Jamieson 65yrs born Rathen. Farmer of 35 acres
Elizabeth  "        47yrs          Forgue
Alexander "         12yrs         New Deer
John W     :          10 yrs        New Deer
Helen Low 6ys Niece             Rothiemay, Banff.
------------------------------
These are their children I could find.
William Jamieson  born 20 Mar 1857     Turriff
George       "                 9  Apr   1859    Turriff
Peter          "                 30 Nov 1866    New Deer
Alexander   "                 27 Feb 1869    New Deer
John Wallace "              20 Nov 1870    New Deer.

I wish there was a child born 1861, to say which census to hire. There should be more children, but I can't think of any other names to match.  in the IGI.
I think you would be extremely luck, for James to still be at home in the 1871 census. So you will have to ask someone to lookup New deer , or Turriff for the family in 1861, or hire them.
-----------------------------
In monumental inscriptions for Forgue on stone no 106
These were all in the same plot.
Elizabeth George 28-1-1864
Elisabeth Low------------
Elsie Reid             16-2-1885
George Low         28-9-1899
Elspet Reid          25-4-1919

------------------------------------------

Can you tell me what you read that said James Walker was from Foveran?

Amendment again...........
Found another birth.. Ann Cruckshank Jamieson, born 20/7/1862. New Deer.  born to George Jamieson and Elizabeth Innes Low.

So from this I would order both Turriff and New Deer 1861 Census.  I was worried that they actually went and lived in a totally different town in between the others.. Now that she has had Ann, their. they should be found in one of the 2 towns.
Tell me what you think
Regards

I'll have a read through this and come back to you, but at first glance it looks extremely promising. I'll probably have a look on Scotlands people as well.

The reason I say  James Walker was born in Foveran is the 1901 census I looked at on Scotlands people.
No gaurantee this is correct though is there - people made mistakes and gave wrong info sometimes.

just out of interest, where did you find your info about Elizabeth Low and George Jamieson?

Hi Shelagh2,
I just found your other messages about the Benzie family.
I have found your James Walker in the 1881 census.
and look what he says this time. ;D
1881 Drums Foveran.
James Walker 28yrs forgue
Christina "       27     Foveran
James               5        "
George              4        "
David                 2       "

So this good. At least this links with his mother's home.
In regard to the Marriage of his mother .I bought the cert.
I will send it to you  if you can open attachments.
I also bought the birth, but sadly it is impossible to read.
You could ask Scotlandspeople to interprete it.
The James Low on it was illegitmate, she said she was 24yrs, as she did when she married(although she is not)
She said she was from somewhere in aberdeen (i think)
but I can't make out where she was when she gave birth.

How stupid of me not to notice on the Benzie message that  the 1881 census stated that James Walker was born in Forgue :-[

I will follow up on James Low born Forgue and check if he appears later at the same alongside James Walker.

I had previously looked for George Walker in Foveran and couldn't find one that fitted, maybe because he also was in Forgue.

Firstly, I must apologize to maclennan25. I found the 1881 census, then stumbled across the messages about the Benzie family, from shelagh2 message bank. and you can't read the replies from there, sorry, maclennan25, you found all the walkers first. I didn't realise.
 :-*
Now back to shelagh2
I found an interesting thing about a"George walker"in the 1881 census. There is one living at 'little haddo foveran'. with all his family. but he and his family came from and were born "BANCHORY DEVRICK, KINCARDINE."
he was 59yrs. he has an unmarried son called  James, with him that was 25yrs, wouldn't it be interesting, if this George is your fellow, and your James has gone with his family to foveran, just to be near daddy,  maybe your James put his age up, all his life, so not to be confused with his half brother. [and to be first in line.
THIS IS ALL HIGHLY SUSPECT, but you have to cover everything.
