Quarton; Wright; Taylor??
« on: Sunday 28 September 08 22:26 BST (UK) »
I have found the following but don't know where to go next - I'm look for some advice or even better information.

My GGG-Gf Thompson Quarton married Christiana Wright in 1838 in Hull (Holy Trinity).  He was born in 1817, she was born in 1820.   I have them in the 1841 Census living in Drypool with a 3 mth old son, Thomas.

In subsequent censuses - Thompson is listed with spouse "Caroline".  There is a son Thomas William who matches the age of Thompson & Christiana's son from the 1841 Census.  There are other children, all listed with Caroline as the mother.

I can find no further record of Christiana except for a death notice in 1883 of a Christiana Quarton in Sculcoates.

From family trees of other people I have a maiden name for Caroline of Taylor but have been unable to find from the owners of those trees yet where they got the name from.  I can't find any record of Thompson remarrying.

So, I've searched everything I can think of to determine if Thompson Quarton remarried and whether the 2nd wife's maiden name is Taylor.

I am curious as to what happened to Christiana.  If the death notice for Christiana Quarton in 1883 is the same person, where could she have been in the intervening years?

Can anyone suggest my next move?  I am located in Canada so all my research is being done on line.

Many thanks.

I don't have any ideas about Christiana, but you could certainly check on Caroline by getting the birth certificate of one of the later children. For example Edwin is probably

Thanks!    Of course that's the next step.   I don't know why I didn't see that.   I really appreciate the shove in the right direction.

I think I'm just going to have to let Christiana go.  Maybe if I stop looking something will show up ;)    I appear to be descended from one of Caroline's children anyway but I'm really curious as to what happened to her.

Many thanks
