The DOVE family
« on: Sunday 28 September 08 15:24 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the registration details of the birth of Geofrey McDonald Dove.

According to the registrations of deaths he was born on the 2/1/1915 and died in the Sept Q of 1975 in Towcester. I assume he was born in Middlesborough has both his older and younger siblings where born there.

He married Mary M P Leach in the Sept Q of 1948 in Kensington and they had at least one child, Thomas Mansel Dove.

Despite looking in the BMD indexes for 1915 I have been unable to confirm his birth - can anyone help me??

Thanks in advance for any leads

Hi,

As he has the middle name McDonald could he have been born in Scotland?

Do you know where and when his parents married?

hi Nanny Jan and Tazzie

Thanks for the replies

I don't think he was born in Scotland as the family has no Scottish connections as far as I can see. I believe the MacDonald may be a surname in his father's family.

His parents are Thomas Dove b about 1875 in Northamptonshire d 1932 and buried in Middlesborough. His mother who is my relation was born Grace Marion Thomas on the 9/8/1878 in Bloxwich and they married at All Saints in Bloxwich in the June Quarter of 1909.

As I said his siblings were all born in Middlesborough and his father was buried there so it looks like Thomas and Grace settled there sometime after their marriage but before their eldest son Basil was born in 1910.

Thanks again, any information is useful as I live in the Midlands and its a long trek to Middlesborough!!!!

   Hi Chris ......

Well Dove would be hard to mis-spell. I can see two other Dove births mothers name Thomas for Middlesborough.

How ever I am stumped with the no show for Geoffrey.  ???
The others are clear to see Cecil & Grace. I am afraid I cannot shed any more light .

  Sorry Chris

Hi Tazzie,

Thanks for the help - Cecil and Grace are in fact Geofrey's sibling and I do have them already as I mentioned.

Geofrey's registration must remain a mystery until I can get up to the Middlesborough area and view the parish registers - perhaps he was baptised but never registered - thought that does seem strange

Many thanks for your help

Hi,

Registration of a birth was compulsory after mid 1870s.

Who was the informant on his death cert?
