Thanks Lucy 2  for your efforts.  Answers to your ?s  While remember  - who is Sam's parents, if what is on the board is  right the same a Freds and that i don't know, would like to know.  I think we have the right folk, in Frederick George married Edith Annie James in 1913 and Basil Ian married Marie Ailsa Webb 1938.(Name Webb reminds me there is more to do on Mum's Mum's side, they are Webbs which are causing a some problems or playing hard to find.  The photo Studio name is hard to read, looks like it was written in pencil, try Deb then possibly 3 more letters Auckland.  You asked what the clothing looked like in Fred's young family group. It looks of older style. His collar looks a stiff upright one with the tie visible all round, he also wears a button hole in his suit jacket. Her hair is short, shorter than the toddlers, she is dressed in long sleeved blouse and skirt with fine lines down it.  Older boy Basil has blonde bushy hair and 3/4 length sleeve romper suit without waist, socks and shoes with strap across. (Basil) .    Baby Eric sitting on Mum's knee appears to have a lacey collar on his top and sort of short length pants.  The wife's facial feature appears similar to the later photo when children are grown up.  Regardless of the first Basil's entry being submitted I feel it is the right one as parent's names tie up.  You mentioned a check of Birth and Death Indexes - you've got a real novice here - how do you do that?  Re Samuel George Cranch and the WW1 reference  of 1914-1919 in the

Mention has been made on this thread (and another) of the William CRANCH/Mary GOLDSWORTHY family - they are not in this line at all. If anyone wants info on that line - let me know.

From my research so far ( and I welcome corrections) this particular line  is best described, briefly, as:

1.   William Cranch, born 1796 in South Milton, Devon, (son of Joseph Cranch and Mary Quarm) baptized 8 Jan 1797 in South Milton, Devon, died Qtr 3 1871 in West Alvington, Devon, occupation Labourer & sexton.
   He married Maria Hodge, married 4 June 1827 in Diptford, Devon.

            (eldest Child of eight)
           i.   Samuel Cranch born 1827, baptized 11 Nov 1827 in West Alvington, Devon. He married (1) Sarah Jane Gill, married Qtr 4 1852 in South Huish, Devon. He married (2) Ann Elizabeth Gillard, married 1877, born 1827 in East Portlemouth, Devon, died Qtr 1 1888.

            He married Mary Gertrude Edge.
            viii.   Annie Muriel Cranch, born Jan 1891 in Carterton, Wellington, NZ, died 1991.
            She married William Robert Norman Warren, married 1921 in Auckland, NZ.

This last child baffles me - it is an IGI( ) entry. Bellbird mentions that the final child is a Vera CRANCH who married a BOND. Would love clarification on the Annie Muriel/Vera dilemma.

Looks like she may not have married or married then, it has spinster but marriage date also: VERA EVELYN MONA CRANCH, land transmission document 24 June 1942
